Hi, I’m Greg
(though you can call me Gregory if that feels better for you).
I’m a faciliatator and coach who has been working with individuals and small groups for more than 20 years in one capacity or another. It feels weird to say that, I gotta say.
My journey into facilitating groups has been a circular one. Or has it been a spiral? Maybe it’s been a circ.al. 😊
Honestly, I’ve never really been attracted to straight lines.
In almost every circle I’ve been a part of (and that’s a lot), I’ve found myself nervous and wondering what was going to happen. I’ll never forget my first group therapy session in early 2004. I sat there, looking around the room wondering “what the hell have I gotten myself into?” And that day, like so many others, I had the profound experience of being seen, listened to, understood.
Since that day, I’ve fallen in love with the what can happen when we sit with others. Having the experience of strangers becoming friends becoming deep companions.
I used to say I fell backwards into most of my work. Looking back on it now, I see that I was being invited into deeper and deeper types of holding. From labor organizing to coaching to facilitating and from conference rooms to retreat centers and Zoom rooms, I’ve had good fortune to suport remarkable people in public, private, and non-profit spaces. (If you’re looking for that linear professional career, feel free to check out my LinkedIn profile)
In 2020, I stepped out of the primarily organizational space, and started making offerings that I felt met the times we were in. First was the men’s circle I (still!) facilitate - Men Connecting. After that came my anti-oppression program for men, Men Connecting: Understanding Whiteness. After five cohorts of that program, I collaborated with my colleague Shannon from Connection Works on Disrupting Our Practice - both the podcast and the program for white-bodied facilitators. I’ve held retreats at the Whidbey Institute, some random AirBnB’s, and on Zoom.
All this was rooted in the circle. And placed at the center of the circle? The invitation to remember.
To remember our humanity. To remember that we need each other. To remember that another way is possible.
If you’re here looking for the ‘credentials’ part of the bio, welcome! You’ve arrived!
My love of learning has helped me connect to some wonderful teachers and mentors over the years, all of whom have helped shape the way that I engage in my work. I am deeply grateful to all of my teachers. So, with that, I:
am a graduate (with honors! 🙌🏻) of, and later a mentor for, the Generating Transformative Change program from Pacific Integral (deep appreciation to Geoff Fitch, Jesse Mckay, and Stefan Locher, among others)
have completed all three levels of training in Peacekeeping Circles with The Circle Works (deep appreciation to Dr. Pamela Taylor)
am a graduate of the Anti-Oppression Facilitator Training with Holistic Resistance (deep appreciation to Aaron Johnson, Jennie Pearl, and Dylan Wilder Quinn)
In addition, in 2024 and 2025 I have completed both the Basic and Core trainings with the Right Use of Power Institute, and am a current, if informal, student of Processwork. I consider my work to be trauma informed, and am heavily influenced by the following approaches, teachers, and bodies of work:
Core Energetics (deep appreciation to JoAnn Lovascio)
